Our Team

Frikkie graduated from the University of the Orange Free State in 1992, after which he worked as a GP in private practice in Aliwal North, also performing duties as district surgeon. He worked in Australia for three years where he completed his Common Wealth examination to become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He joined the practice in 2001.

Pieter qualified in 1991 at the University of Stellenbosch, after which he spent some time in the SA Military Health Service. He resigned as Chief Medical Officer at 7 Medical Battalion Group, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2005. He worked in Skukuza, Kruger National Park till 2009, after which he did some locum work in Ireland. He joined the practice in 2010.

Retief grew up in the Helderberg area and studied at the University of Stellenbosch. After graduation he worked in Port-Elizabeth for two years and returned to Somerset-West in the mid-90’s. He has a special interest in geriatrics, sport medicine and preventative medicine. He is married with two daughters and loves playing all forms of sport.

Marilize qualified at University of the Free State in 2003, after which she completed her community service at Tygerberg Hospital and in Calvinia. She has a passion for women’s health, mental health, pediatrics and geriatrics. She is married with three children and loves to play the viola. She joined the practice in 2006.

Marilize graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2020. After her Internship in Mpumalanga she finished her Community Service in Helderberg Hospital. She did an extra diploma in Emergency Primary Care. She has a passion for women’s health, mental health and palliative care. She is married and loves to spend time in nature.

Robinne graduated B.Sc. Physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in 1983 and has been working at the practice since 1998. She is registered with the South African Society of Physiotherapy and the Health Professionals Council of SA.

Janneke graduated from the University of the Free State in 1990 and joined the practice in 2008. She is registered with the South African Society of Physiotherapy, Health Professionals Council of SA, Canadian Physiotherapy Association and Alberta Physiotherapy Association.

Alison Smith has been a receptionist at our practice since January 2022.
Prior to this she worked at Helderberg Village Frailcare for 4 years as an Administrative Assistant where she was responsible for admissions, billings, debtors & creditors and reception.
She is married and is the proud mother of three beautiful children.

Originally from the Northern Cape, Annatjie matriculated in Springbok. She relocated to the Strand in 1978 where she worked as a nurse and pharmacy assistant. Accepted a post as receptionist at the Practice in 2005.

Originally from Cape Town, Riandri was appointed at the Practice in April 2013. Her job entails accounts, enquiries and medical aid related issues.
